Bold Masculine Geometric YAY Birthday card | CutCardStock

Masculine cards can sometimes feel tricky — how do you keep them bold and interesting without adding too many embellishments? By leaning into strong graphic patterns and vibrant color contrast, you can create something modern, eye-catching, and full of energy.

Carrianne here, and today I’m sharing a bold geometric birthday card that combines layered cardstock and clean dimension for a striking masculine design.

Supplies & Materials

CutCardStock Cardstock:

Other Products Used:

Alex Syberia Designs Chevron Die
Altenew Bold Alphabet Dies
Sentiment Strip Die
Red ink
Die-cutting machine
Liquid Adhesive

Step 1: Die Cut the Modern Stripes Pieces

I began by die cutting the Modern Stripes Die from multiple cardstock colors to create the frame and insert pieces. Using the same die for all pieces ensures everything fits together perfectly when assembling the design.

The Modern Stripes Die from Alex Syberia Designs creates clean, geometric striping that works beautifully for bold, graphic card layouts.

Step 2: Adhere the Frame to the Base

Next, I adhered the Dolphin Gray frame to the white base panel. (unsure if I should say Modern Stripes frame) This structured outline keeps the inserts in place and ensures a clean, professional finish. (In the first photo - I show 2 Dolphin Gray frames as I was going to use 2 frames for dimension but decided after adhered one that I did n't need the other one. Unsure if that should be mentioned for tutorial purposes.

Step 3: Insert the Modern Stripes Strips

Once satisfied with the layout, I began adhering the Red Hot and Wild Blueberry strips into the frame openings. I worked carefully section by section to keep everything aligned and crisp. Can we make this part a little more fun & engaging like a puzzle being put together or something.

Step 4: Create the Dimensional "YAY" Sentiment

To give the card a bold focal point, I die cut the word "YAY" three times from Red Hot and once from Dolphin Gray cardstock. The three red layers were stacked for dimension. The gray layer was slightly offset behind the red letters to create a subtle shadow effect.

Step 5: Add the Sub-Sentiment

Next, I stamped a coordinating sub-sentiment in red ink onto Dolphin Gray and cut it out with a sentiment strip die. The strip was positioned directly beneath the centered "YAY", keeping the width aligned with the main word for a clean and balanced look.

Step 6: Add Embellishments and Finish

To enhance the celebratory feel without overpowering the modern stripes pattern, I added five metallic red stars two the the top left of the sentiment and three near the bottom right. This creates a diagonal flow and frames the focal point beautifully.

Final Thoughts

This design demonstrates how bold patterns and layered cardstock can create a striking masculine birthday card without heavy embellishments. Repeating key colors, keeping the layout structured, and using dimensional die-cut lettres ensures a cohesive, energetic, and modern look.
