It’s Your Birthday - Go Wild!

Today’s card is bringing full-on safari celebration energy, and honestly… the jungle has never looked so festive.

This playful birthday scene came together using the Hello Bluebird Stamps - Summer Woods Scene Die, paired with the sweetest animals from Gerda Steiner Designs - Go Wild. Together, they create the perfect setting for a whimsical birthday moment deep in the jungle canopy.

I started by die cutting all the elements from the Summer Woods Scene Die, then added ink directly to the individual pieces after taking everything apart. This step really helped bring the scene to life.

Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn inks were used for the leaves and bushes, while Brushed Corduroy and Vintage Photo added grounding and dimension to the trunks and branches.

Once everything was inked and layered back together, I used a Watercolor Wash Rectangle Stencil to create soft blue, wave-like clouds in the background sky. This added a dreamy, fluid movement to the sky and created a beautiful contrast against the dense greenery below.

To finish the foliage, I added small green dots throughout the trees and bushes for extra texture and a natural, leafy look. It’s a simple detail, but it really helps everything feel more organic and lively.

The adorable animals from Go Wild were colored with Copic markers, keeping the palette soft and cohesive so they would stand out against the lush background without overwhelming it.

Each character brings its own personality into the scene, and coloring them is always the most fun part—this time it really felt like they were ready to throw a jungle birthday party.

Once the background and critters were ready, I assembled the full scene and added the sentiment.

It felt like the perfect finishing touch—fun, bold, and full of celebration energy.

The final card has lots of layering, soft ink blending, playful texture, and just the right amount of chaos (the good kind).
