When I think of a relaxing Sunday, my mind always goes straight to a good book. There’s something about slowing down, curling up with a blanket (and maybe a cup of coffee), and getting lost in a story that feels so comforting. I’ve always been drawn to a good mystery or thriller — the kind that keeps you guessing until the very last page.
That peaceful, story-filled feeling was the inspiration behind today’s card for this week’s My Favorite Hop, where our theme is “A Favorite Thing To Do on a Sunday.
I reached for My Favorite Things – Books and Buddies, which features the cutest little critters relaxing with their favorite reads. I colored three of the rabbits in soft gray and the bear in a gentle gray-brown hue, giving each a soft, calming look. The books were colored in pastel shades to add a playful pop of color while keeping the overall feel peaceful and light. Since I don’t have the matching dies, my Scan N Cut came to the rescue to perfectly cut out each image.
For the background, I wanted something fun but still soft, so I turned to The Greetery – Color Spots Stencil. I layered soft spots of color across the panel to create a whimsical, lively backdrop without overpowering my little critters. I popped up the critters, each resting on a book in a different color than the background spot beneath them, adding a playful, whimsical touch to the scene.
The sentiments in this set are just too good to pass up, so I used two of them! One is stamped directly onto the upper right corner of the panel, and the other on soft gray cardstock, trimmed, and adhered to the right side near the center. To finish things off, I added the tiny coffee mug from the set — because what’s a cozy Sunday read without a warm drink nearby?
I just love how this card turned out — soft tones, pastel pops, and a playful, relaxing vibe that perfectly captures the spirit of my ideal Sunday.
