Hi friends! Today, I’m thrilled to share a card inspired by the My Favorite Hop on Instagram, where we create and share cards based on a weekly theme. This week’s theme is a favorite fruit, and I couldn’t wait to get creative with it!
My card features Altenew's Lemon Craze Stencil Set, which showcases one of my absolute favorite fruits – the lemon! Lemons are incredibly versatile, whether you're adding a fresh burst of flavor to a drink, a salad, or even fish. I’ve always loved the tartness, and as a kid, I used to peel them just like a banana – it was one of my quirky childhood habits! The Lemon Craze Stencil Set captures all that citrus goodness, and I had so much fun using it on this card!
I began by securing a white A2 panel onto my Stampwheel for stability. Then, I carefully positioned the first of the three layering stencils from the Lemon Craze Stencil Set on top of the panel. Starting with Sunray, the lightest shade from the Golden Sunset Fresh Dye Ink, I gently blended the ink through the stencil to create the first vibrant layer, bringing a soft, citrusy glow to the design.
Next, I placed the second layering stencil, which was for the leaves, onto the panel. Using the Forest Glades Fresh Dye Ink set, I began with Frayed Leaf to lay down a soft, light base. Then, I added Forest Glades to the edges and areas that needed a little extra shading, creating depth and dimension for the leaves, which helped bring the design to life with a more natural, layered effect.
The final stencil adds a few whimsical dots, which I inked with Jet Black to give the design a bold contrast and a playful touch, completing the layered effect with a pop of dark detail. The sentiment is from the set which was stamped in black ink directly to the panel.
I finished the card by trimming the panel to 3 x 4 1/4 inches to ensure it was the perfect size for my design. I then adhered the panel to a slightly larger black mat, allowing the dark color to frame and highlight the vibrant elements of the card. To complete the look, I carefully mounted the matted panel onto a crisp white card base, giving the card a clean, balanced finish that makes the design pop.
Thank you so much for stopping by! Wishing you a wonderful day filled with creativity and joy!
