Step 1: Gather Your Supplies
First, gather all of the cardstock and supplies you’ll need to create the card. I chose a bright combination of pink, purple, orange, yellow, and green cardstock to give the bouquet plenty of color while keeping the overall design cheerful and cohesive.
The Banana Split cardstock creates the warm yellow rain boots, while the different flower colors add plenty of dimension and interest.
Step 2: Create the Embossed Background
Next, cut a piece of Crest Solar White cardstock to fit the front of your card.
Place the panel into a 3D brick embossing folder and run it through your die-cutting machine according to the manufacturer's instructions.
The brick texture adds subtle dimension to the background without taking attention away from the bouquet. Once embossed, set the panel aside while you work on the die-cut pieces.
Step 3: Die Cut the Rain Boot Bouquet Pieces
Now it’s time to die cut all of the pieces for the Rain Boot Bouquet.
I used Banana Split cardstock for the boots, along with Pink Tutu, Grape Jelly, Hydrangea Purple, Crest Solar White, Flame Orange, Hot Fudge, Yellow Jacket, and Gumdrop Green for the flowers, leaves, and additional details.
Because the die set includes several small pieces, I like to keep the pieces grouped by color as I work. This makes assembly much easier later.
Step 4: Add Shading to the Die Cuts
Once all of the pieces are die cut, add shading to give the individual elements more depth.
I used darker shading around the edges and in areas where the pieces naturally overlap. Even though the pieces are cut from colored cardstock, a little shading makes a big difference and helps the flowers and boots look more dimensional.
Step 5: Assemble the Card
Once all of the die-cut pieces are shaded, assemble the flowers and rain boots. Arrange the completed pieces on the embossed brick panel and adhere everything in place. Add the sentiment and finish with a few iridescent dew drops for a touch of sparkle.
Final Thoughts
I love how the Rain Boot Bouquet die set makes it easy to create a colorful floral card with lots of dimension. The embossed brick background adds just enough texture to complement the bouquet without overwhelming the design.
Most importantly, using a variety of CutCardStock cardstock colors makes each little die-cut piece stand out. By combining different shades for the flowers, leaves, and boots, you can easily customize this card to match your favorite color palette.
Whether you're creating a spring card, a cheerful thank-you card, or simply looking for a fun die-cutting project, this Rain Boot Bouquet card is a simple design that can easily be adapted with different cardstock colors and sentiments.
Thanks so much for stopping by, and happy crafting!
