It’s time for another Colorful Options Challenge, and this month’s theme is Another Red November! The focus is on using shades of red, but if you’re not quite feeling it, you can always go with the rainbow option because creativity should always feel fun and free! I couldn’t resist diving into this one — red is such a rich, joyful color, perfect for the cozy transition into the holiday season.
For my card, I reached for one of my new favorites — the Hero Arts Fairytale Forest Layering Stencils - September 2025. This is my second time using this gorgeous stencil set, and once again, I found myself saying WOW as the layers came together. The set includes four coordinating layering stencils, and the way they build on each other is just stunning.
I started with a panel of white cardstock and placed down the first stencil layer of leaves. Using my blending brush, I applied Hero Arts Pale Tomato Ink for a soft, warm red base. After removing that layer, I positioned the second stenciland added Hero Arts Raspberry Ink — deepening the color and adding beautiful variation.
For the final stencil layer, I wanted a brighter, more vibrant red, so I grabbed Distress Oxide Festive Berries. It turned out perfectly! The transition from Pale Tomato to Raspberry to Festive Berries created such a rich red gradient — full of depth and warmth. I finished the design by adding Hero Arts Wet Cement for the tree bark, which balanced the vivid reds with a lovely neutral contrast.
Once the inking was complete, I trimmed the panel to 4" x 5.25", matted it with Smoke Grey cardstock, and adhered it to a white card base for a clean, finished look.
For the sentiment, I die-cut the word Thanks twice from Cherry Cobbler cardstock for added dimension and layered it over a vellum shadow — giving just the right touch of softness. To finish it all off, I added a few Altenew Satin Gold Sequins for a hint of sparkle and elegance.
This card came together so beautifully — rich layers of red, subtle shine, and the cozy warmth that November calls for. I love how the Hero Arts Stencil of the Month continues to impress with every use, and this project was the perfect way to celebrate the Colorful Options Red November Challenge.
