Hi friends! I’m so excited to be participating in the "My Favorite Hop" on Instagram, where every Sunday at noon, we create and inspire based on a 'favorite' theme! This week’s theme is all about childhood cartoons, and I couldn’t wait to share my card inspired by one of my all-time favorites. Keep reading to find out which cartoon stole my heart as a kid!
Peter Pan was always my all-time favorite cartoon, but not because of Peter — it was all about the sweet little Tinkerbell! She’s always represented magic and wonder to me. My mom gave me the video tape for my birthday, and I would sit there all day long, watching it over and over again. You could definitely say I was a little obsessed!
My card features C.C. Designs Tinks Clear Stamp for this card. The sentiment, "Faith, Trust, and a little Pixie Dust," perfectly captures the magic my mom brought into my life. I’m sending this card to her as a way to thank her for filling my childhood with love and imagination.
I began by stamping the image onto alcohol-friendly cardstock, then colored it with Copic Markers. To add some extra sparkle, I applied Wink of Stella to her wings for a shimmering effect. I used my Scan N Cut machine to carefully cut it out.
For the background, I grabbed a panel of watercolor cardstock and blended Distress Oxide inks in Blueprint Sketch, Peacock Feathers and Twisted Citron to create a beautiful, dreamy night sky that really made the image pop! I spritzed a bit of water onto the panel and gently patted it with a paper towel to create subtle, night-sky textures.
To enhance the starry effect, I added splatters of white ink and metallic gold using Altenew’s Metallic Watercolor 14 Pan Set. The combination of the splatters and the shimmer from the metallic gold gave the background a dreamy, magical glow that perfectly complemented the image.
To finish the card, I heat embossed the sentiment in gold directly onto the panel, adding a beautiful, elegant shine that perfectly matched the overall theme. I then popped the colored image on foam tape to give it some dimension and make it really stand out against the night-sky background. For the final touch, I scattered a few gold mini stars around the scene, bringing a bit of extra sparkle and whimsy to the design, making it feel even more magical.
Thank you so much for stopping by and letting me share this special memory with you. I hope you enjoyed seeing how this card came together, and I’m so glad I could take a little trip down memory lane with you!
