Hi friends! Today, I’m excited to share a card inspired by a Altenew Challenges Craft Challenge, Day 26 – Highlight the Golden Hour. I had so much fun playing with my new Dancing Sunflowers to create a sunset-inspired card. The vibrant colors and warm tones just felt perfect for capturing that golden hour glow!
I started by stamping the sunflowers in Versafine black ink for crisp outlines. Then, using the coordinating stencil, I blended an assortment of Fresh Dye Inks (listed below with the links) to add vibrant color and dimension to the flowers.
For the background, I started with a panel of watercolor cardstock and applied the smooshing technique using shades of purple, blue, red, orange, and yellow to capture the warmth and glow of the golden hour.
Next, I dabbed some more Snapdragon ink onto my palette and spritzed it with water to activate the color. Using acetate, I picked up the ink and applied it randomly to the panel creating a textured effect for added depth and interest. Finally, I added some Enchanted Gold splatters from the Metallic Watercolor 14 Pan Set to give the design a subtle shimmer and a touch of elegance.
I adhered the images to the panel using foam tape, allowing some parts to hang off the edges for added dimension and interest. I then flipped the panel over and trimmed the hanging parts. Flipping it over ensures a clean cut for a neat finish.
The sentiment, from Rose Blossom, was heat embossed with gold embossing powder for a touch of elegance. I then adhered it to the panel using foam tape for added dimension.
