AECP Irresistible Inking Techniques

Hello, Crafty Friends! Today I would like to share with you my final course project from Level 1, Irresistable Inking Techniques with Sara Naumann from the Altenew Education Certification Program. It has been a rewarding experience, filled with new techniques and improving old skills.

Although I was familiar with most techniques from this course with Sara Naumann, I learned some new ones using ink pads and so I have two cards to show you today.

The first card, I used Altenew Painted Poppy. I was inspired by the colors featured in the Altenew Inspiration Challenge. In this lesson, Sara explains how to use your ink pads with a brayer. I really love this technique and so of course, I had to give it a try. This is what I created...

I began with a panel of Neenah Solar White #110. I applied Distress Oxide Ink, Faded Jeans, and water to my Altenew Watercolor Palette. I used my brayer and ran it through the ink and water mix ensuring that it was thoroughly coated. I applied it to my panel and was astonished by the outcome. I set that aside and began working on my image.

I stamped the images onto a panel with Versafine Black Ink and colored them with the layering stamp with Altenew Fresh Dye Inks, Snapdragon, Crimson, Red Velvet and Forest Glades. I used the coordinating dies to cut the images out. I attached some images directly to the panel with glue, and others with foam strips. I used the My Favorite Things Stitched Rectangle Frame Die-namics and cut it twice, glued them together, and then adhered it to the panel.

I die-cut the sentiment from Altenew Build a Garden: Blooming Delight twice for dimension and then adhered it to the panel with glue. I have added glitter glue and a glossy accent to the sentiment to add more dimension and shine. I completed the card by adding some clear iridescent sequins.

For my second card I used the Altenew Dainty Sprig which has been retired. In this lesson, Sara discusses the use of ink pads on stamping blocks. It is a very simple technique that leaves a beautiful impression that can be used as a background for your focal point.

I began with a panel of Neenah Solar White #110. I applied ink to a stamping block using Altenew Fresh Dye Ink, Dew Drops, then I sprayed water over the entire block generously with the Tim Holtz Distress Sprayer Tim Holtz Distress Sprayer. I then positioned the block where I wanted it and then firmly pressed down for a clear and solid image. I gave it a few seconds before I removed it from the panel.

I then placed the panel onto the Altenew Stampingwheel. I positioned the floral image and inked it up with Altenew Jet Black Fresh Dye Ink. From there, I applied a few colors of ink to my Altenew Watercolor Palette, then added some water and began watercoloring my image.

I wrapped a teal ribbon around the card base, hid the edges behind my image panel, and cut the image using The Rabbit Hole Designs You've Been Framed. I then adhered it to the base with glue. The sentiment was stamped in Versafine black ink. To complete the card, I added several mixed-colored sequins.
