Gold Heat Embossed Christmas Card | CutCardStock

There’s something especially fun about combining holiday crafting with summer creativity, and this Christmas in July project is the perfect example.

I’m Carrianne, and I created a clean, elegant heat embossed Christmas card design that highlights rich color, subtle inking, and beautiful metallic detail for a timeless festive feel. Using deep red cardstock from CutCardStock, I paired gold embossing with soft ink blending to add dimension without overwhelming the design. The result is a simple yet elegant holiday card that feels both modern and classic.

Step 1: Image stamped in Versamark Ink

I started by trimming the Red Hot cardstock to 4" x 5.25" and applying anti-static powder to the panel. Using my stamping platform, I stamped the image with VersaMark Ink to prepare it for heat embossing.

Step 2: Image Heat Embossed with Gold Embossing Powder

After stamping the image with VersaMark Ink, I covered the entire panel with gold embossing powder, making sure all of the stamped details were fully coated. I then heat set the powder until the image turned smooth and shiny, creating a bold embossed design against the Red Hot cardstock.

The embossed panel really comes to life with the beautiful gold details against the rich Red Hot cardstock. The heat embossing adds elegance and a soft reflective shine, making the design stand out beautifully.

Step 3 - Edges inked with Distress Inks

To enhance dimension, the edges of the panel are softly blended with Distress Ink Aged Mahogany, followed by deeper shading using Distress Ink Black Soot. This layering creates depth and frames the embossed design without overpowering it.

Step 5 - Finished Panel

To add a bit more depth and cohesion to the design, I lightly added shading to the card base to complement the inked edges of the panel. Once the background felt balanced, I adhered the embossed panel to the card base using foam tape, allowing it to sit slightly raised for added dimension.

For the final touch, I captured the finished card at an angle to highlight the shine and dimension from the gold embossing. The inked edges and layered details help frame the design, while the metallic accents catch the light beautifully.

The card is clean, elegant, and richly layered. The Red Hot cardstock provides a bold, vibrant base that holds the heat embossing and ink blending beautifully, making the gold details stand out even more. Softly inked edges on both the panel and card base help tie everything together for a cohesive look.

The combination of heat embossing, subtle ink blending, and high-quality cardstock creates a timeless holiday card perfect for Christmas in July inspiration—or any time of year.

Toucan Play at That Game! | La-La Land Crafts June Kit of the Month

Today I'm sharing a tropical card that's full of sunshine, lush greenery, and a pair of adorable toucans! The June Kit of the Month from La-La Land Crafts made creating this cheerful scene so much fun, and I couldn't resist leaning into all those tropical vibes.

I started by creating a soft sky background and used the Stitched Clouds Border Die as a stencil to add fluffy clouds. This simple technique adds depth and helps set the scene without overwhelming the focal images.

The stars of the card are the sweet toucans from the Toucan Do It Clear Stamp Set. I colored them in bright, vibrant shades and nestled them among the gorgeous foliage from the Tropical Leaves Frame Die. The tropical flowers add pops of color throughout the design, bringing even more life and energy to the scene. 

For the sentiment, I used the Scalloped Sentiment Labels Die, which creates the perfect focal point while adding a sweet decorative touch. Every element works together to create a fun tropical escape that feels like a mini vacation on paper.

Hi, I’m Carrianne, and I’m excited to share this project with you today. This card was created using premium cardstock from CutCardStock, and it’s a great example of how simple layering and color choices can turn basic die cuts into a fun, finished scene full of personality.

Step 1: Choosing the Color Palette

I started this card by focusing on the dinosaur, since it’s the main focal point of the design.

Before cutting anything, I like to lay out my cardstock with the die on top of each color to visualize how everything will come together. This step helps me balance contrast, decide placement, and ensure the final design feels cohesive.

This simple planning stage makes the rest of the process smoother and helps the finished design feel intentional from the very beginning.

Step 2: Adding Ink Shading for Dimension

Before assembling the dinosaur, I added light shading to give the die cuts more depth and personality. Using Distress inks, I applied Fossilized Amber to the dinosaur body and Picked Raspberry to the fins and spikes.

I gently blended the ink with small brushes, focusing on the edges to create soft shadows and add depth and dimension. This subtle shading helps the finished dinosaur feel more dimensional once assembled.

After inking, I laid all the pieces back out to check the balance before moving on.

Step 3: Assembling the Dinosaur

Once all the pieces were inked and ready, I moved on to assembling the dinosaur.

Using liquid adhesive, I layered each die cut piece carefully—starting with the Yellow Jacket body, then adding the Raspberry Ice Pink fins and details, and finishing with the Black Licorice eye. I like to work slowly here so everything lines up cleanly and the personality of the character really comes through.

This close-up really shows the detail in the ink blending and how the layers come together to create a playful, finished character.

Step 4: Creating the Background Panel

Next, I created the background using a panel of Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock from CutCardStock. I placed the panel onto my stamping platform and positioned a stencil over the top to create a soft grassy texture.

Using Mowed Lawn Distress Ink and a blending brush, I built up color through the stencil, concentrating the ink toward the bottom for a grounded base and fading it upward for a lighter, more open feel.

Once the blending was complete, I removed the stencil and prepared the panel for framing.

Step 5: Framing and Assembling the Background

To finish the panel, I trimmed it using a Wonky Stitched Frame die to add a playful, slightly whimsical stitched edge that complements the fun theme of the card.

I then adhered the framed panel directly onto the card base, creating a clean and structured foundation for the rest of the design.

This step brings the background together and establishes the full card base before adding the focal dinosaur and sentiment.

Step 6: Final Assembly and Sentiment

With the background complete, I added the assembled dinosaur to the center of the card. I positioned it slightly below the midpoint. This creates balance and leaves space for the sentiment.

Once I was happy with the placement, I adhered the dinosaur using foam adhesive. This adds dimension and helps it stand out against the framed background.

This step really brings the scene together. The dinosaur becomes the main focal point while the design still feels clean and open.

Final Thoughts

This dinosaur birthday card is all about keeping things bright, clean, and fun while letting the cardstock and die cuts do the work. Using bold colors from CutCardStock and simple layering, the design comes together with a playful but polished feel.

There’s something so uplifting about creating a card that feels bright, cheerful, and full of heart. Today’s project is exactly that—an easygoing, happy design featuring the adorable Tiny Townie Garden Girl Marigold from Stamping Bella.

Marigold truly brings the sunshine wherever she goes! With her playful charm and sweet gardening vibe, she makes the perfect focal point for a card meant to send a little love and positivity.

To complement her bold personality, I paired her with a vibrant plaid patterned paper. The strong pattern adds energy and contrast while beautifully highlighting her red and green details. It’s one of those combinations that just clicks the moment you place it down on the card base.

To make Marigold stand out even more, I used foam tape to pop her up from the background. This simple step adds dimension and instantly draws the eye to the main image, giving the entire design a lively, layered feel.

One of my favorite parts of this project was how smoothly everything came together. I used my trusted adhesive from @taperunner_dkusa, which made assembly quick, clean, and stress-free. A Sunny Day at the Shore | La-La Land Crafts May KOTM

Nothing says a day at the shore quite like seagulls overhead and the sound of waves rolling in! This card captures that relaxed, coastal feeling with a cheerful seaside scene full of warmth, texture, and a touch of whimsy.

For this project, I used the beautiful May Kit of the Month from La-La Land Crafts, which provided the perfect foundation for building a sunny beach moment. The kit’s imagery works so well for creating layered scenes, and I love how easily it brings a story to life on a card front. 

To enhance the shoreline, I incorporated the Beach Pilings Die, which adds just the right amount of rustic coastal detail. The weathered wood elements help ground the scene and give it that authentic “walk along the boardwalk” feel.

For the sky and atmospheric texture, I reached for the Rain and Shine Stencil Set. Even though this is a sunny scene, the subtle layering from the stencil adds beautiful movement and depth to the background—like a soft ocean breeze drifting through the sky.

The combination of these elements creates a peaceful beach moment: seagulls gliding above, sunlit water below, and a quiet sense of calm that feels like a mini getaway in card form.

Elegant Hydrangea Floral Card

In today’s project, I’m sharing a soft and elegant floral card featuring layered hydrangeas, ink-blended edges, and a clean dimensional design using cardstock from CutCardStock. This card combines die-cut florals, stamped foliage, and subtle ink blending to create a balanced and polished handmade design.

Supplies Used:

CutCardStock: 

• DCS Wild Blueberry
• Pop Tone Grape Jelly
• DCS Yellow Jacket
• Classic Crest Solar White
• Pop Tone Black Licorice (sentiment)

Other Supplies:

• Altenew Pop-It-Up: Blooming Hydrangea Stamp & Die Set
• Altenew Artistry Alcohol Markers (Green Fields)
• Distress Oxide inks (for soft edge blending)
• Embellishments (optional finishing touch)
• Foam tape (for dimension)
• Adhesives and basic crafting tools

Step 1: Create the Card Base

Start with an A2 card base using Crest Solar White cardstock. This provides a clean, bright foundation that allows the floral colors to stand out beautifully.

Next, cut a layer of Wild Blueberry cardstock slightly smaller than the card base and adhere it to the front. This creates a bold, rich frame that enhances the soft floral elements.

Step 2: Prepare the Floral Elements

Die cut hydrangea pieces from Grape Jelly and Wild Blueberry cardstock, using Wild Blueberry as deeper shadow elements and Grape Jelly as the main floral color. Add small flower centers using Yellow Jacket cardstock for a bright contrast.

Arrange the die-cut pieces before adhering to create natural-looking hydrangea clusters with variation in tone and depth.

Step 3: Stamp and Color the Leaves

Stamp the leaf outline images onto Classic Crest Solar White cardstock. I used Altenew Artist Markers in Green Fields to color the leaves.

This keeps the leaves soft and dimensional while allowing the stamped outline to remain visible.

Step 4: Create the Focal Panel

Trim a piece of Crest Solar White cardstock to slightly smaller than the navy mat layer. Lightly ink blend the edges with soft lavender tones to add subtle depth and reduce the starkness of the white.

Adhere this panel centered onto the Wild Blueberry mat layer.

Step 5: Assemble the Floral Design

Begin building your hydrangea clusters on the white panel. Place darker Wild Blueberry petals first to establish depth, then layer Grape Jelly petals on top for the main blooms. Add Yellow Jacket centers to complete each flower cluster.

Tuck colored leaves around and beneath the florals to create a natural, flowing arrangement. Allow some elements to overlap the panel edges for a more organic design.

Step 6: Add the Sentiment

Heat emboss your sentiment in white onto black cardstock. Use a strip die to cut a clean sentiment banner.

Place the sentiment strip at the bottom right of the card, slightly overlapping the floral arrangement to integrate it into the design rather than having it float separately.

Step 7: Final Embellishments

Finish the card with a few clear embellishments to add subtle sparkle and dimension. Place them in small groupings around the floral cluster and near the sentiment for balance.

Optional: add tiny highlights with a white gel pen or a touch of shimmer for extra dimension.

Final Thoughts

This card is a beautiful example of how layered cardstock, simple stamping, and thoughtful color placement can create an elegant floral design. By combining rich navy tones, soft purples, and bright floral centers, the result is a balanced and dimensional handmade card perfect for any occasion.
