Happy You Day

Good morning, Crafty Friends! I am delighted to share my first card with you as a member of the Design Team at the Colorful Options Challenge Blog. 

We would like to invite you to participate in our June color challenge, where the chosen color for the month is AQUA. If you're not an admirer of Aqua, do not fret, as you have the option to create a project inspired by the rainbow.

To create the background, I started with a panel of Neenah 80# and blended the bottom portion with Altenew Sweet Dreams Fresh Dye Inks Dew Drops and Aqualicious. I used the Waffle Flower Crafts Sea Foam Stencil and blended the aforementioned inks, however, I added Teal Cave to enhance the depth of the water scene. I flipped the panel over and created sand by blending Distress Oxide inks, Vintage and Walnut, and adding texture with black and white splatter. 


Next, I used the Waffle Flower Crafts Beach Umbrella Die & Stencil. I began with the stencil on a white panel and again on a teal panel, using the same inks as above, but adding Teal Cave and Galactic Stream. I cut them out using the matching dies and adhered the smaller one directly to the background panel with glue. The larger one was adhered with foam strips. 


I used My Favorite Things, Fun in the Sun, to complete the beach scene. The images were stamped, colored with Copic markers, and then cut with the matching dies. To take it a step further, I stamped the girl image once again on the Half Dots Unicorn Paper Pad from Waffle Flower Crafts and then paper pieced it to the image to create a fun polka-dotted suit. I adhered the images using glue and foam strips. 


To complete the card, I heat embossed the sentiment from My Favorite Things Little Birthday Notes and added aqua sequins to the card.

To The Best Dad Ever

Hello Crafty Friends!

I am thrilled to be a Crazy Cousin Guest Designer for the Double Trouble Challenge #168.


To participate in this challenge, you must adhere to the instructions provided by Things 1 and 3. Thing 1 requests that you make a masculine card. This is the only requirement necessary to enter the challenge. The decision of Thing 3 to collaborate with Colorful Options calls for the use of shades of aqua or rainbow hues. Thing 2 invites you to enter your project into Colorful Options if you have met the Thing 1 and Thing 3 requests.



The Papertrey Ink Argyle Stencil was used to create the background using Altenew Sweet Dreams Fresh Dye Inks in order to play along with Thing 3. The image from Stampin' Up! A Good Man (retired) was stamped and colored with Copic Markers, then fussy cut out and popped up on foam strips. The sentiment is from Colorado Crafts Company was stamped on a piece of white cardstock and adhered to the background. From there, it was adhered to a teal card base.

You're So Good For Me

Hello Crafty Friends!

Today, I am sharing a card that I made for a monthly Instagram Hop called the Wacky Holidays Card Hop. This Hop is dedicated to celebrating the overlooked holidays throughout the year. If you are curious about which holiday I chose for June, please continue reading. 


I have chosen World Milk Day, which is observed on June 1st and was initiated by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, to commemorate its significant contribution to providing nutrition to the world. 


My card features a digital image from Penguin Palace - Milk, Tea, Or Me. There are five images in this set, with three featuring this adorable cow. I downloaded the file, resized it, and colored it with Copic markers. I then fussy cut him out.  

For the background I used Honey Bee Stamps, Great Outdoors paper pad. I then cut out a stitched panel on white cardstock and adhered it to a navy mat. I then placed the cow on foam strips for dimension. 


The sentiment is from Angie Blom Digital Designs, You're So Good For Me. This is a great set. It includes several dessert images as well as fun sentiments. If you have not been to Angie's shop before, you should definitely visit and look around. Sequins were also added to complete the card.

Beautiful Details - AECP Level 2

Good morning, Fellow Crafters! 

Today, I have two cards to show you from the Altenew Educator Certification Program: Beautiful Details, taught by Marika Rahtu. 

I thoroughly enjoyed Marika's course, Beautiful Details, particularly the first lesson. I was so inspired by what she did with a layered stamp that I immediately went into my craft room to create! I used the Altenew Peony Bouquet. This set contains two peonies with four layers, one large and one small. I created this card using the small peony layered stamp and a layered leaf.


For my first card, I placed my image on a stamping block and inked it up using my Stampin' Up! Write Marker, Almost Amethyst, on a panel of Neenah Solar White 80# cardstock and began stamping my image in a circular motion until the ink faded away. I kept inking the image and stamping from dark to light tones until I was satisfied with the results. I decided to add another color, so I wiped off my stamp and inked it up with another Write marker, Pixie Pink, and repeated the steps mentioned above.


When I was happy with my floral results, I took the small leaf layer stamp from the set, inked it up with Old Olive, and stamped around my florals to give it a little more interest. From there, I used a black fine point marker and just flickered away in areas that I thought it could use some more detail. 


I stamped my sentiment from Altenew Smile More, as I thought it expressed how I was feeling while creating this card. I also added another sentiment from the same set because, all through playing, not knowing what exactly I wanted to create, I remained positive that no matter the result, I was enjoying myself. To finish off the card, I added some champagne mist drops, which I applied with a thin paint brush. All in all, I am very happy with the end result. And for that, I will give myself a pat on the back! 


My second card is from Lesson 4 with Marika Rahtu. I will be using a no-line coloring technique on Vellum. I have always wanted to try no-line coloring, and it has always been a challenge for me. I have tried it before and was never satisfied with my results, as you were always able to see the lines. This lesson from Marika was truly inspiring!


For this card, I used the Altenew Dainty Sprig (retired). I started my card by stamping the image with Versamark Ink on a sheet of Vellum. I heat embossed it with clear embossing powder for a no-line coloring technique. When using this technique, you will not be able to actually see the lines so well, which is expected with clear embossing powder. 

Pro Tip: To achieve a visual image, place your vellum image over a white sheet of paper. 

Now that you can see the outline, you may begin to color. I began coloring with my Copic Markers first. I chose RV02 to shade the area to which I wanted to add a shadow and then added a darker shadow with RV04. When I finished with the markers, I pulled out my Prismacolor Pencils and began to add more detail with my darkest color first (Pink) and blended it out with my lightest (Blush Pink). I flipped my image around to see how it looked, and WOW! I was actually doing a no-line coloring card!

Next, I had to color the leaves. I followed the same technique and began coloring the same way that I mentioned above. First using my Copic Markers YG02 and finishing with YG04. I added more details with my Prismacolor Pencils, Apple Green and Chartreuse. I proceeded to the center of the flowers with Y02, Y04 and Prismacolor Pencils Spanish Orange and Canary Yellow and added some details to the center using Goldenrod.


After my image was colored and die-cut using the coordinating dies, I pulled out a panel of Neenah Solar White 80# and ran it through my Sizzix Big Shot Plus using Stampin' Up! Oldworld Embossing Folder. I adhered it to an A2-sized Neenah Solar White #110 card base. I had some frame scraps lying around, so I decided to use them for this card. From there, I placed the yellow frame directly on the panel with a slight tilt to the left, then placed the white frame on top slightly to the right. 

For the sentiment, I used Simon Says Stamps All About You. I stamped it using Versafine Onyx Black Ink, die-cut it out using the coordinating dies, and adhered it to the panel inside the frame with foam dots. Now it was time to place my focal image. Whenever I used vellum for a project, I always had issues with how to attach it to my project without seeing the glue. I learned, with so many other tips, that if you use glue dots behind a colored area, you won't see it! Therefore, I was able to attach my image to the panel, and I really did look closely afterward, and I did not see anything behind the flowers. Amazing! I finished off my card with three pink gems.

My card features a digital image that I obtained from Kit & Clowder Coloring Classes while attending classes to improve my coloring skills with both Prismacolor Pencils and Copic Markers.


To create this card, I printed the digital image in a light gray in order to practice no-line coloring. I colored the image using Prismacolor pencils, cut out the image using a stitched rectangle, and then adhered it to a green panel. Afterward, it was adhered to a white card base. The sentiment is from Waffle Flower Crafts Essential Sentiments.

My card features an image from All Dressed Up Stamps, A Star Is Born. I colored the image using Copic markers and cut it out using a stitched die. The background is made up of patterned paper from Honey Bee Stamps. I heat embossed the sentiment from Simon Hurley Christmas Silhouettes. I added gold gems to complete the card.

Smiles AECP Beyond Basic Backgrounds Level 2

Hello Crafty Friends!

I am excited to say that I completed Level I of the Altenew Educator Certification Program. I have acquired numerous techniques from Level 1 and am eager to begin Level 2 to enhance my card-making abilities.

My first Level 2 card is from Beyond Basic Backgrounds with Lydia Evans. Lydia discusses numerous techniques that will help you create a background and take it to a whole new level.


For my card, I used Altenew Dainty Sprig, which has been discontinued. Lydia created a beautiful card by creating a stencil from a die, and I was inspired to try this technique. 

I began with a panel of Neenah Solar White 80# and positioned the large die from this set with washi tape to keep it in place while I ran it through my Big Shot Plus machine. I repeated this step two additional times until I had successfully achieved my stencil. I then placed a panel onto the Altenew Stampwheel with the stencil and did a little ink blending. I chose Altenew Fresh Dye Inks, Rouge and Chamomile for a more subtle vintage look. 


After completing this step, I removed the stencil and applied anti-embossing powder to the blended stencil images. I then proceeded to stamp the matching image in Versamark ink. I heat embossed it with white embossing powder, then repeated the process two more times.

The panel was framed using a reverse stitched scalloped frame die and was then lightly blended with the colors mentioned above. I added another frame and adhered them together for dimension. I adhered my panel to the card base and then adhered my frames directly to the panel using glue.


The sentiment is from Altenew Timeless Sentiments 2. For dimension, I cut it twice on white cardstock and blended Altenew Fresh Dye Ink Sunny. I cut the shadows on vellum and attached them together with glue. I applied foam strips to the back of the vellum and adhered it to the panel. I completed the card by adding several Altenew Satin White sequins.

Congratulations On Your Wedding Day

Today is a big day; my son is getting married. I'm already breaking down into tears. Letting go is so hard! I am proud of him and the person he has grown into, as well as the new family he is creating. I am filled with joy upon seeing someone who cherishes him as deeply as I do.

This card was created with a great deal of affection, yet it retains a simplistic design. It features Altenew Ambridge Rose, which is heat embossed with silver embossing powder. I used the matching stencil with soft shades of gray. The sentiment is from Altenew Fresh Cut Roses, and I've added silver gems and splatter to complete the card.
