Let It Snow – A Mixed Media Snowman Card Full of Texture & Cheer!

Hi crafty friends!

Today I’m sharing a playful, snowy Christmas card that brings together Distress Inks, embossing, stenciling, and a super cute snowman for a festive mixed media mashup.

The Background: Inky Layers & Embossed Texture

There’s something so satisfying about stumbling on a technique that just works—like this clever one from Juliana Michaels! I scrunched up a paper towel into a ball, wrapped it in plastic wrap, and used it to do some controlled ink smooshing with Picked Raspberry and Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide Inks. Instead of pressing my panel directly into the ink, I dabbed it on using the wrapped paper towel—this gave me way more control and created the perfect snowy texture without things getting too chaotic.

I started with the Picked Raspberry, wiped off the plastic, then went in with the Peacock Feather. To speed things up (because I’m way too impatient to wait), I heat set the panel—but feel free to let it air dry if you’re more relaxed than I am!

Next I brought in the Scattered Snowflakes Stencil by Simon Says Stamp and softly blended Distress Oxide inks through it suing the same inks mentioned above, just enough to make those gentle flakes dance across the background.

To finish, I heat embossed the Merry Medley Background Stamp by Stampin’ Up! in clean, crisp white. The Christmas sentiments make a lively, festive statement which is perfect for capturing that snowy celebration vibe.

I then cut the panel down to 5 1/4 x 4 and adhered it to a panel of white cardstock. I used an inverted scalloped border die to frame the panel, giving the card a crisp edge. It also created a visual boundary between the busy background and the main focal point.

To add even more texture, I ran the whole panel through my machine using the Fine Woodgrain Press Plate by Altenew—it’s such a subtle detail, but it adds the perfect finishing touch!

Center Stage: The Gifting Snowman

The star of the card is one of the charming snowmen from the Gifting Snowmen Die set by Waffle Flower Crafts. I dressed him up in the coordinating accessories from the set—scarf, hat, and mittens—and added soft blue ink shading to give everything a bit of depth and contrast. To make him stand out, I popped him up with foam tape and placed him right at the center of the snowy scene, where he adds just the right touch of wintery cheer.

The Finishing Touch: Let It Snow

Between his mittens, I tucked a "Let it Snow" sentiment from the Tiny Words Christmas set by Simon Says Stamp and die cut it using the Tiny Sentiments Banner Die from Poppy Stamps. It fit perfectly between his hands like a little holiday banner, tying everything together with a sweet and simple message.

This card was such a joy to create — full of inky layers, snowy texture, and a little bit of winter whimsy. It’s a great example of how you can mix stamping, stenciling, die cutting, and ink techniques to tell a complete story in one little scene.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope this little snowman brought some cheer to your day.

Duckin' Cheers with the Prost! Bundle and Oh Duck!!! Stencil from The Rabbit Hole Designs

Let’s be honest — nothing says “party” quite like a duck with a drink and a whole lot of personality! The latest release from The Rabbit Hole Designs brings together unexpected charm and cheeky fun with the Prost! Bundle and the whimsical Oh Duck!!! 6x6 Stencil. I couldn’t resist putting them to work in a playful card that’s all about good vibes, a few bubbles, and a lot of laughs.

To start, I dry embossed the Oh Duck!!! 6x6 Stencil by running it through my die cutting machine with a panel of crisp white cardstock. This gave such a lovely, tactile impression — like those little duckies were about to waddle right off the page! I softly blended a pale green ink over the raised areas to highlight the texture without overwhelming the design.

Next up: the star of the show — those fun-loving ducks from the Prost! Bundle. I colored it with alcohol markers, giving it rich tones and a splash of cheeky character. I mean, who doesn’t want to party with a duck holding a beer?

For the sentiments, I paired the bold Prost! with a playful phrase from the Sentimentally Speaking Bundle, popped up with foam tape for extra dimension. A clean layout lets the details shine while keeping the focus on the festive mood.

Here’s to feathered friends and frothy ends — it’s time to quack open a cold one!

This release from The Rabbit Hole Designs is all about fun, celebration, and a little bit of sass. Whether you're crafting for Oktoberfest, birthdays, or just sending a smile, the Prost! Bundle and Oh Duck!!! 6x6 Stencil are sure to bring the party to your paper.

Ready to Party?

Monochrome Mayhem with the Prost! Bundle & Oh Duck!!! Stencil from The Rabbit Hole Designs

Hi crafty friends!

Today I’m sharing a card that’s equal parts bold, quirky, and just a little bit ridiculous — in the best way possible! This project features the Prost! Bundle paired with the Oh Duck!!! 6x6 Stencil, and it all came together in a fun monochromatic black-and-white theme.

I started with a panel of white cardstock and placed the Oh Duck!!! 6x6 Stencil over the top. Using a blending brush and some crisp black ink, I blended through the stencil to create a fun duck pattern across the panel. Once the ink was dry, I cut the panel using a scalloped rectangle die to add a touch of playful elegance before building the rest of the card.

I love how this background adds humor and texture without being too loud. It’s not the star of the show, but it definitely sets the stage in a cheeky way. If you look closely, the ducks are all doing their own little thing — which makes this stencil so perfect for lighthearted or offbeat card designs.

Next I grabbed the Prost! Bundle and stamped them onto black cardstock using Versamark embossing ink, then heat embossed them with white embossing powder. Watching the powder melt and turn into crisp, clean lines never gets old — especially against a dark background like this. The white embossing really pops and gives the card that high-contrast look I was going for.

Once the embossing was done, I trimmed everything down and started assembling. I adhered the stenciled background to a black card base for a seamless look. Then I added the embossed ducks and sentiment with foam adhesive to give them a little lift and make them the true focal point.

This card is a great example of how you can take a limited color palette and still create something bold and full of personality. The stencil brings the fun, the embossing brings the drama, and together they make a card that’s perfect for a birthday, celebration, or just to make someone laugh out loud.

I love how easy it was to put together, too. You could easily recreate this layout with other stencils and sentiments — it’s super versatile once you’ve got the basic idea down.

Want to recreate this look or add a little ducky drama to your own stash? You can grab these fun supplies right HERE and be sure to use code CRAFTICARRI at checkout for an exclusive FREE gift.

Thanks so much for stopping by — and as always, happy crafting!

Apple Picking with Lili of the Valley’s Autumn Collection

Hello friends!

I’m so excited to share a new card I created featuring one of the sweetest images from Lili of the Valley’s latest digital collection - Autumn Girls. This adorable little girl with her basket of apples instantly reminded me of one of my favorite fall traditions—apple picking!

There’s something truly special about spending a crisp autumn day outdoors, wandering through rows of apple trees, picking the juiciest fruits, and sharing smiles with fellow apple lovers. It’s a magical experience where strangers often become friends, united by the simple joy of harvest. Have you ever gone apple picking? If not, I highly recommend it—it’s such a heartwarming way to welcome the season.

For my card, I colored her wearing a red sweater and soft teal overalls. I adhered patterned papers—soft teal with polka dots and warm red stripes—together, then die-cut them with a scalloped rectangle die and layered it onto a clean white card base for a fresh, polished look.

The sentiment is from an older set by Clearly Besotted. I stamped it, die-cut it with a small stitched circle, and popped it up with foam tape for dimension.

All the products I used are listed below with links. You can find this charming Autumn Collection from Lili of the Valley HERE.

Altenew September 2025 Release

With the September 2025 Release, Altenew has delivered another round of beautifully designed products — and I had the best time crafting with them.

I pulled out a few favorites and mixed shimmer, texture, and color to create a cozy card I’m excited to share with you today. Keep reading for the step-by-step details!

I started my card by positioning the Checkerboard Tiles Background Stencil over a white cardstock panel and secured it in place using my Stampwheel.

On my work surface, I mixed embossing paste with a bit of Pearl Shimmer Paste to create a sparkly texture paste. Using a Mixed Media Palette Knife Set, I spread the mixture over the stencil, carefully removed the stencil, and set the panel aside to dry completely. The result is a clean, modern background with a subtle shimmer that catches the light beautifully.

While the background dried, I moved on to the focal elements:

I stamped two leaves from the Autumn Whispers Bundle, then cut them out using the coordinating dies. To add more interest, I die cut the same leaves from Brushed Silver Cardstock and layered them slightly offset behind the stamped leaves — giving a touch of shine and depth.

For an extra pop of color, I created a bold leaf using Yupo paper and red alcohol ink. Once dry, I die cut it using the Crispy Leaves Layering Die Set, and it became the perfect eye-catching element. Once all the elements were in place, I adhered them to the stenciled background panel and then attached the finished panel to a white card base to complete the card.

For the sentiment, I used one of the versatile greetings from the One Go: Sentiment Strips 3 Press Plates/Foil Plates (Gratitude Edition), stamped in black ink and trimmed it with a paper trimmer. I backed it with a strip of Silver Glitter Cardstock from the Milky Way Glitter Gradient Cardstock for just a hint of sparkle, then adhered both to the card front.

Altenew – September Release Collection

Hi, crafty friends!

I'm so honored to be guest designing for Altenew’s September Release — and let me tell you, this Autumn Collection is everything I love about fall: cozy textures, natural elements, and warm seasonal charm.

For today’s project, I couldn’t wait to try out the new Woodgrain Press Plate, and it did not disappoint! I ran it through my machine to create a subtle, beautiful woodgrain texture on the background panel — it added just the right amount of interest without overpowering the design. It’s quickly become one of my new favorite texture plates!

To complete the look, I paired it with the Woodland Path Bundle — the scene is so serene and versatile, and it was a joy to work with. I kept the color palette soft and earthy to let the textures really shine.

Be sure to check out the full release and more inspiration from the Altenew team and guest designers — there’s so much creativity to explore! If you're shopping the release, everything is now available HERE.

Creating Quacktastic Cards with The Rabbit Hole Designs Prost! Bundle and Oh Duck!!! 6x6 Stencil

Today I’m sharing a card that’s all about fun, texture, and a little bit of quacky celebration — featuring the Prost! Bundle and the super cute Oh Duck!!! 6x6 Stencil from The Rabbit Hole Designs

This duck is seriously living his best life!

Let’s talk background:

I used one of my favorite stencil techniques that’s always fun to revisit (and might be something new for you to try!):

  • I started by inking up the Oh Duck!!! 6x6 Stencil with shades of purple

  • Then gave it a light spritz of water to activate the ink

  • Flipped the stencil over onto watercolor cardstock for a reverse print that gives a soft, mixed media look

  • Once dry, I repositioned the stencil over the open/white areas and blended yellow ink through it — creating rows of happy little ducks walking through a purple haze

The star of the show:

I colored the duck from the Prost! Bundle with alcohol markers and used the coordinating die to cut him out.

He’s layered on a stitched circle (white) and a zig-zag stitched circle (purple), adhered with liquid glue and foam tape for dimension.

The sentiment is heat embossed in white on purple cardstock and finished with a rectangle die.

It’s bold, funny, and totally perfect for a birthday card or a just-for-fun moment.

Have you tried this stencil technique before? Let me know below!

Oh Duck Stencil and Prost! Bundle from The Rabbit Hole Designs

Today I’m sharing a fun and playful card using the Prost! Bundle paired with the adorable Oh Duck Stencil from The Rabbit Hole Designs and this little duck is ready to party!

It’s one of those cards that just makes you smile while you're making it and hopefully gives someone a good laugh when they receive it too!

I started by blending yellow ink through the Oh Duck Stencil to create a bold, cheerful focal point. I then die cut it using a stitched circle die, which adds a clean and polished edge. That circle was layered onto a blue panel trimmed to 3.75" x 5.5", giving a nice frame of color before adhering it all to a crisp white card base.

Next, I stamped the sweet duck from the Prost! Bundle, colored her up with alcohol markers, and popped her up on foam tape to make her the star of the show!

For the sentiments, I had a little fun with layering. I stamped one sentiment and cut it out using a stitched fishtail die, then cut a second fishtail in blue cardstock and offset the two to create a shadowed effect. I also stamped an additional sentiment directly onto the blue panel below the circle to ground the design and tie everything together.

This card came together with a quack-ton of fun, and I just love the mix of stencil texture, bright colors, and playful details.
