I began by stamping Jackie Foxy Mama onto Neenah Solar White 80lb cardstock, then brought her to life with Copic markers. After coloring, I used the coordinating die to cut her out. She’s dressed to impress and totally rocking the glam look!
For the background, I reached for the Sparkle & Shine Paper Pack which was perfect for this week’s theme. I used the Scalloped Rectangles Die, cut out the center of the patterned paper, and popped the frame up with foam tape for added dimension.
To add even more sparkle, I die cut several stars from gold metallic cardstock and scattered them across the panel. The sentiment was heat embossed in gold on black cardstock and placed to the left of Foxy Mama — who, of course, was also popped up on foam tape for a little extra spotlight!

I had so much fun creating this elegant and textured floral card using the Craft-A-Flower: Prairie Roses Layering Die Set. I started by cutting all the floral pieces from white cardstock to allow for custom ink blending. To give the petals a soft, sun-kissed look, I blended Buttercream from the Summer Afternoon Fresh Dye Ink Set, concentrating the color at the centers and edges for added depth. The leaves were cut from green cardstock for a classic, fresh contrast.
For the background, I went with a soft ombré blend in purples, using the Lilac Blossoms Crisp Dye Ink Set — Ultraviolet, Deep Iris, Lavender, Wisteria, and Soft Lilac — working from dark to light. Once the blending was complete, I ran the panel through my die-cutting machine with the Geo Triangles Embossing Folder (retired) to add some subtle texture and geometric interest.
To elevate the background, I mounted it on a white cardstock panel whose edges I heat embossed in gold for a luxe, gilded frame. Then came the fun part — arranging the flowers! I used a mix of liquid glue and foam tape to give the floral elements dimension and movement.
The best part? Altenew is making it extra fun with a giveaway! They're offering 2x $50 gift cards and 5x $20 gift cards. For your chance to win:

Welcome to the Just One Color Hop!
This fun and creative hop is all about the challenge of using just one color in our cardmaking! Each month, we explore a new hue and push ourselves to get creative within that single color family. While a touch of neutral may sneak in here and there, the main focus stays on one bold, beautiful color.
If you’d like to join the fun, feel free to message @craftyengineer or @sharonjamesorama to hop in on a future round! And don’t forget to check out all the amazing creations by exploring #justonecolorIGhop2025 on Instagram.
For July, our featured color is PURPLE 💜 — and we’ve added an extra credit twist: incorporate food or drinks into your design!
My card is all about birthday fun, featuring the Birthday Words Stencil from Pretty Pink Posh and the Sweet Birthday Girl stamp set from My Favorite Things Pure Innocence line. It’s a party in purple — and I’m excited to share it with you!
I started by stamping the My Favorite Things Pure Innocence Sweet Birthday Girl and coloring her in a beautiful blend of purples using Copic markers.
For the background, I reached for the Birthday Words Stencil by Pretty Pink Posh and placed it over a panel of lavender cardstock, then softly ink blended several shades of purple over the stencil to create a dreamy, tone-on-tone effect. The subtle texture adds just the right amount of interest without overwhelming the focal image.
Once dry, I ran the panel through my die-cutting machine with a scalloped frame die, then layered it onto a piece of deep eggplant cardstock for contrast and dimension. That full panel was then adhered to a lavender card base to bring everything together in one cohesive purple palette.
To finish it off, I heat embossed the sentiment in white on a coordinating piece of eggplant cardstock, trimmed it down, and popped both the sentiment and the stamped image up with foam tape for added dimension and visual focus.
It’s time for the Crushing Christmas Cards Hop! I had so much fun creating this festive scene featuring the adorable Christmas Penguins Digi Stamp from Amanda Jayne Designs!
I paired them with the beautiful Cover Up Die Snowflakes by Lil' Inker Designs (a beloved brand that. has since closed) and brought it all to life with a vibrant background using Altenew Watercolor Brush Markers - Tropical Fiesta Set. Color, texture, and cuteness? Check, check, and check!
Be sure to head over to Instagram and hop along for tons of holiday inspiration — and get a head start on those handmade cards!
To create this card, I began by printing the Christmas Penguins Digital Image onto Neenah Solar White 80lb cardstock. I colored it with alcohol markers and fussy cut it for a crisp, clean edge.
For the background, I worked on a panel of Canson XL watercolor paper, lightly misting it with water before applying Turquoise and Purple Wine shades from the Altenew Watercolor Brush Markers – Tropical Fiesta Set. The ink flowed beautifully with the water, creating a dreamy, blended effect that reminded me of a chilly winter sky.
Once dry, I took a piece of white cardstock and die cut it using the Snowflakes Cover Up Die from Lil' Inker Designs. I adhered this detailed die-cut over the watercolor panel with liquid glue to allow the vibrant colors to peek through the snowflake pattern.
Next, I added dimension by popping the colored penguin and the heat-embossed sentiment on foam tape. Everything was assembled onto a clean white card base for a crisp wintery finish.
This card combines texture, color, and cute winter charm — and it was so much fun to make!

Last night, I had the absolute joy of teaching my second Altenew workshop, and what a fun, creative evening it was! This time, we dove into another mixed media card project—full of texture, shimmer, and layered goodness that brought out everyone’s unique creative voice.
We explored shimmer sprays, stenciling with paste, working with geometric stamped elements and layering die-cut florals to create depth and visual interest. It was all about mixing mediums in a simple, approachable way to get that bold, artistic feel without overcomplicating the process.
One of my favorite parts? Seeing how each participant took the same techniques and made them their own! Every project had its own flair, which is what I love most about mixed media—it’s messy, expressive, and totally you.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined me live. It means so much to create alongside such an encouraging and talented community.
Until then, stay creative, stay curious, and keep making magic!
Today I had the joy of crafting with my sweet friend Andrea, who missed my workshop last night. We went through all the techniques together—and because we both adore mixed media, we couldn’t resist putting our own creative spin on it.
There’s just something special about slowing down, sharing ideas, and creating side by side with someone who gets your crafty soul.
Grateful for days like this, full of layers, laughter, and a little shimmer.
